The Pondicherry Co-operative
Spinning Mills popularly known as SPINCO is situated
at Thirubuvanai Village 22 Kms away from Puducherry,
India, in the Puducherry-Villupuram National High
way - NH 45A.
SPINCO is a Govt. funded institution
registered as a co-operative society under "The
Pondicherry Co-operative Societies Act 1972",
Govt. of Union Territory of Puducherry. The mill
started functioning with effect from 19.03.1984
with a capacity of 25,080 spindles. Subsequently,
10,080 spindles were added during the year 1996
and now the mill is running with a total spindle
capacity of 35,160 spindles. SPINCO manufactures
cotton yarn ranging from 25s count to 100s count
in karded, combed, hoisary and semi-combed varieties
meeting the international standards. The present
annual turnover of the mills is 35 crores. Further,
we are aiming to achieve a turnover of 50 crores
very shortly.
SPINCO has acquired certification
of ISO 9001:2000 for quality maintenance from
M/s SGS United Kingdom Ltd., Yarsley International
Certification Services and is in the process of
obtaining other international certificates such
as EMS 14000, SA 8000 and OHSAS 18000.
The quality and reliability
of the products is due to our emphasis on methods,
procedures, process and manufacturing techniques
meeting the international standards, which are
constantly acquired and upgraded by our team.
SPINCO is presently administered
by an administrator appointed by the Registrar
of Co-operative Societies, Puducherry. The constitution
of committee of management of SPINCO is consists
of eleven members out of which 5 representatives
are usually elected from among the A, B and C
class members of the mills and the remaining 6
members will be nominated by the Government /
Appex Weavers Co-operative Societies. SPINCO is
presently administered by an Administrator appointed
by the Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Puducherry.
The Managing Director who is the chief executive
and in charge of executive administration of the
mills is normally appointed by the government.
